The work for the drilling of the test wells in the dunes of Scheveningen has started. There are a number of vertical wells drilled. Also, research is being done to test the removability of different types of drilling fluid. Three types of drilling fluid and three different disposal methods are tested. When the tests are finished, the Wells will be “developed” and cleaned. The result should provide a comparison of the water flow in the reference well. In this reference well no drilling fluid is used. Depending on the results of the exploratory drilling, Dunea wants to build an HDDW in 2015. This HDDW will be used for the extraction of drinking water from the dunes of Scheveningen.
Explanation on site is available for hikers in the area. Our staff can explain to visitors of the dunes where the equipment is used for. A large part of the drinking water of South Holland is produced in this area.
